Prayer Letter – Week 2
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
Amid all the busyness of this week, I’ve had the privilege of working on the EMW calendar, selecting a Bible verse for every day of 2027. There is certainly no shortage of verses to choose from! It has been a wonderful reminder of just how rich God’s Word is and how vital it is to our lives as Christians. It truly is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.
God’s Word is central to everything we do. We thank the Lord for the blessings of the past week: for the many books and resources that were distributed at the Builth Mission, and for the preaching and Bible studies at the camp in Bala. We know that God’s Word will accomplish the purpose for which he sends it.
That also gives us confidence as we look ahead to the coming weeks—to the Eisteddfod Mission, the camps and the conferences. Thank you for your partnership in the gospel and please continue to pray for the work, that in everything God would be glorified.
For His glory,
Steffan Job
Director of Ministries
Update
Builth Mission
Andy Pitt reports:
We are so grateful for your prayers. There is definitely a very different attitude (particularly among the young people) towards Christian things. The highlight today was a mother, who isn’t a Christian, standing and listening as we encouraged her teenage sons to take a book that would help them consider who Jesus is. They seemed reluctant until their mother said, “If the man is offering you hope, please take it!” Another encouraging conversation followed with the mother, who went home with a copy of Mark’s Gospel. May the Lord bless it for his glory.
Camp Video
We had a wonderful week at Bala. Please watch the video for a taste of the fun and fellowship. We’re thankful to the Lord for his protection and safety throughout the week, allowing God’s Word to be preached clearly by Matt Francis.
It was especially encouraging to welcome so many new campers. Please pray that God would continue to work in the lives of these young people, many of whom will be starting sixth form or university in September.
Social Media
Our social media channels have had a bit of a refresh this week. It’s a difficult balance—we don’t want to draw attention to ourselves, yet we recognise that today we need to be present in the marketplace where people are spending their time.
Please do take a look at our channels, and pray that everything we share would be honest, humble and, above all, point people to Christ.
Please Pray For
The Aber Conferences
A great deal of work has been taking place over the past few weeks in preparation for the Aber Conferences. The organisers have been finalising the programme and conference guides, while the office staff have been busy processing bookings and sending information packs through the post.
But we must also remember the work of the speakers, who are seeking the Lord in prayer as they prepare to preach. Please pray for all the speakers, and especially for Phil Swann and Emyr James, who are the main Bible teachers this year.
Phil will be preaching on Mission Unstoppable: The Glory of God in the Worship and Witness of His Church, and Emyr will be speaking on Grace in the Life of the Christian.
We would ask you to pray especially for the Welsh Conference. We are concerned that more people would feel the burden to come together to seek the Lord, sit under his Word and encourage one another in the gospel.
Eisteddfod Mission
On Thursday this week, Gwydion Lewis and the team will travel to Cardigan to begin setting up for the Eisteddfod Mission, which starts in a week.
The theme this year is Dal y Pwysau, which roughly translates as Holding the Pressures of Life. A gospel tract has been prepared around this theme, and we have also produced a booklet containing ten Bible readings for those who would like to explore what the Bible says.
Please pray for the preparations and for the team throughout the week. Above all, pray that the gospel would be shared clearly, that many meaningful conversations would take place, and that the Lord would save people through the faithful proclamation of his Word.
Camps 2 and 6
Two camps begin today, with around 100 children attending.
Please pray for Camp 2 at Bryn-y-groes (ages 13–16). The camp theme is “Things You Find in the Fridge!” The leaders are Mark Gilmore and Rebecca Graham, with Dafydd Williams serving as chaplain.
Please also pray for Camp 6 at Woodcroft, Chepstow (ages 10–12). The theme is Spies and Detectives. Andrew Norbury and Lianne Jenkins are leading the camp, with Dafydd Taylor serving as chaplain.
The camps will be full of fun and activity, but our greatest prayer is that the Holy Spirit would be at work in the lives of the young people. Please pray for safety throughout the week, for unity and wisdom for the teams, and that many children would come to know and love the Lord Jesus.
A Request
We are looking for one or two people who would be willing to help by driving a van and transporting equipment between some of our summer events. All expenses, including van hire, will be covered.
If you are able to help, please contact the office.
We currently need help with:
