The Eisteddfod Mission 2018 – Cardiff
As Welsh Christians we love our country and our people – and that’s the reason for going to the Eisteddfod to share the good news about Jesus.
The Eisteddfod is a place where ideas are exchanged and where the agenda for the public life of Welsh language Wales is often set. It’s a place where we belong, and we have the opportunity to input into the public life our country and to reach people with the gospel.
Eisteddfod Genedleathol Caerdydd 2018 (4-11 August 2018)
The theme this year will be ‘Life to the Full’
This year we’ll be asking people about their lives and more importantly what meaning they find in their life. Through the questionnaires, the ‘Holi’ magazine and the chats we aim to make people thing about the important things in life. Through using the parable of the pearl of great worth we want to show that God is not a ‘far away’ and angry God, but He’s closer than anyone could imagine and He’s full of love and compassion – getting to know Him is the real treasure. We also hope to show that you can’t ignore God, but each of us must respond to the love he’s shown in Jesus.
So why not come over to see us – we’ll be by the Pierhead building, and we’d love to meet you!
Why go to the Eisteddfod?
As Welsh speakers going to the Eisteddfod is something we really enjoy as we chat and share with others. As Christians, it’s also a natural place to share the good news of Jesus with others, most of whom never go to a gospel church. This year we expect over 150,000 visitors during the week.
How do people respond?
Over the past few years the experience has been a blessing. It’s great to speak openly with people about the gospel and the response has been positive, although we would like to see conversions.
How will we be working this year?
Our tent on the field will be the focal point of our activities as we serve refreshments, chat, share the magazines and do questionnaires. This year we are aiming to have two teams as we’re going to be opening later (up to 9pm) to serve the people who stay on the field in the evening listening to the gigs.
How can you support us?
We are very dependent on our fellow Christians to ensure that the work continues. Would you therefore:
- Help us cover the costs? It has become increasingly expensive to run this ministry. The whole project is estimated to roughly cost £5,000. Would you consider partnering with us in this work by contributing financially? Details can be found here.
- Pray for us – this is by far the most important part of the work. As a team, we know that we are totally dependent on God; we want to follow his guidance and do exactly what he wants us to do. Would you consider praying for the work? You can join our prayer list by clicking below – we’ll be sending regular prayer updates of the work over the next few months.
