“One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire in his temple.”
Psalm 27:4
We can’t wait to gather today for our first meeting – a family service in the Great Hall. It will be a wonderful encouragement to sing, worship and hear God’s Word together. There is something very special about joining with over a thousand other people to praise our God.
Yet this verse points us to something deeper than simply the joy of being together. It expresses a longing that we would encourage you to make your prayer today as we prepare to enter the Great Hall: we want to meet with the Lord and gaze upon his beauty.
Through Christ we have access to the Father and are welcomed into his presence. So let us pray that the Spirit would work powerfully amongst us – opening our eyes to see more of the beauty and glory of God, moving our hearts, and changing our lives.
May we leave our gatherings not simply encouraged by being together, but amazed by our God and transformed for his glory.
