Prayer Requests for Upcoming Summer Missions in Wales

As many people across the country head into their summer holidays—some to beaches abroad, others to festivals here in Wales—we are reminded of the wonderful opportunities the Lord gives us to share the gospel during this season. Two such opportunities are fast approaching: our mission outreaches at the Royal Welsh Show and the National Eisteddfod.

Since you’ve asked to receive updates about our evangelistic work, we wanted to share specific prayer points for both of these missions. We deeply recognise that unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain (Psalm 127:1). Please join us in praying that the Lord would work powerfully to save many through these efforts.

The Royal Welsh Show – Builth Wells (21–24 July)

This is the premier event in the British agricultural calendar, with over 200,000 people expected to attend over four days. Andy Pitt will be leading our team of believers as they share the good news of Jesus on the showground. We’ll be based in a large gazebo, offering literature, refreshments, and conversations that point people to Christ.

Please pray:

  • For the team – that the Lord would grant them sensitivity, humility, and boldness in gospel conversations.
  • For meaningful conversations that lead people to Jesus, and that many would take and read the literature.
  • For safety – especially as the showground can be very hot. Pray for strength and wisdom during long days.
  • For the traders near the EMW stand – that we might show them Christlike love and speak the gospel clearly.
  • For the witness of other Christians around the showground – may they be blessed and have good opportunities.
  • For the farming community in general, many of whom are facing real and difficult challenges – that they would be drawn to the stand and hear words of hope.
  • Above all, that many would come to saving faith in Jesus.

The National Eisteddfod – Wrexham (2–9 August)

This year’s Eisteddfod will be held in Wrexham, attracting over 160,000 people across the week. It’s a celebration of Welsh language and culture—bringing together communities from all over Wales.

Gwydion Lewis will be leading our team. The theme of our tent this year is ‘Heroes’, and each day we’ll be sharing testimonies and pointing people to the true Hero—Jesus. We’ll also be offering refreshments and Christian literature to visitors.

Please pray:

  • For the final preparations, especially as we continue to recruit team members. (If you speak Welsh and have a heart for the lost, please contact Gwydion: gwydioncatrin@gmail.com.)
  • That God would prepare the hearts of those attending to receive the gospel with openness.
  • That our witness would be Spirit-filled and fruitful, bringing glory to Christ.

Thank you so much for your continued support in prayer. We are deeply grateful for your partnership in the gospel.

In Christ,

Steffan Job

Acting General Secretary of the EMW
