‘Care Gofal’

Most Christians recognise that pastoral ministry is demanding—but only those who serve in this calling truly understand its weight. The Apostle Paul spoke candidly of times when he felt overwhelmed, yet many pastors today carry similar burdens in silence. Within our independent church contexts, meaningful pastoral support can often be limited—or even absent—leaving ministers and their families to navigate the pressures of ministry largely on their own.

This May, we invite pastors and their wives—including those recently retired—to join us for two special days of fellowship, reflection, and encouragement: one in North Wales and one in the South. Together, we will take time to reflect honestly and constructively on the realities of pastoral ministry in Wales today.

These gatherings are designed to offer space to slow down, connect, and speak openly about the joys and challenges of ministry as they are truly experienced. By listening to one another, sharing our experiences, and learning together, we hope to foster a meaningful and constructive conversation that will strengthen those currently serving.

Phil Swann (Pastoral Director of the Evangelical Movement of Wales) will lead the day, including a morning session titled “Surviving and Thriving in Pastoral Ministry Today.” Lunch will be provided, with the remainder of the time set aside for fellowship and conversation.

Join us as we encourage one another and reflect together on the calling we share—for the good of our churches, our families, and the health of gospel ministry in Wales.
