EMW Daily Devotion – 29 June 2020

29 June 2020 | by Steffan Job | Romans 5

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:1

There are many important things in our world, but nothing is more important than God. God created the cosmos, put everything in order and sustains it all. God is the one who gives meaning to the world and our lives and nothing is more important and glorious.

It’s awful to be in a position where we are not at peace with our creator, but this is the natural position of us all. We are his enemies, dead in our sins and without hope in the world. I was reading David Nott’s (War Doctor) book recently where he described the horrific situation of having to work in a war-torn country. It was heartbreaking to hear of the horrific suffering that so many people endure – but even this does not compare to being at war with God himself. No situation can be more dangerous for us, and nothing more important than coming to peace with God.

How amazing it is that we are now at peace with God through Jesus Christ! We are justified by faith because Jesus was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification (Romans 4:25). Here is a solid foundation on which to stand.

It is our privilege at the beginning of another week to know that God is smiling on us. Whatever comes we know for sure that God will be with us working through the Spirit to enable us to bring glory to Him!
