A Praying Life

Connecting with God in a Distracting World
If you’re looking for a book to read on prayer, look no further. Actually, if you’re looking for a book to read, look no further.

Robert Murray M’Cheyne famously said, ‘A man is what he is on his knees before God, and nothing more.’ When we hear quotes like that, we’re humbled to the core, because we are so aware of our weakness in this area. We can easily live our lives with that nagging guilt that our prayer life should be much better.

This is why I’ve found Paul Miller’s book so helpful and liberating. ‘Many people struggle to learn how to pray because they are focusing on praying, and not on God… it’s like trying to drive while focussing at the windshield instead of through it.’ So this book takes us to the heart of what prayer is – speaking to our Heavenly Father.

A Praying Life takes an honest look at struggles and obstacles in prayer; it also shows how prayer can’t be separated from the rest of our lives. But most of all, it really makes you want to pray!

I really can’t recommend this book highly enough – buy two copies, as I’m sure you’ll want to give a copy to a friend after you’ve read it!
