Mary Kassian is a professor of women’s studies at a theological seminary in USA and probably best known for her book The Feminist Mistake published by Crossway. Don’t let that put you off – because this book is anything but a dull theological treatise!
This book is an exploration of biblical womanhood from the book of Proverbs. It is contemporary and easy to read. The author contrasts ‘the saucy, seductive wild thing with a smart, biblically savvy wise thing’. This book is a must-read for younger Christian women who are concerned to know how to behave godly. It would make an excellent basis for a church-based mother and daughter study. (Mary Kassian’s website www.girlsgonewise.com contains study questions to go with each chapter.) Older Christian women, in the Titus 2 mould, should read this book in order to give wise advice to younger women, advice that reflects the world they live in, not a past era!
The chapter on boundaries (‘hedges’) is particularly practical and helpful. Many a marriage and a reputation will be saved if this godly advice is followed. So, come on Christian girls, wise up and buy this book. You won’t regret it!
