Empty arms: a mother’s journey through grief to hope

This small hardback book is the author’s reflections on the death of one of her two-year-old twins, Natalie, from a rare bacterial disease. With painful honesty the author describes how she coped in the early days, one day at a time. The majority of the book, seven chapters, is given over to advice on how to cope with this untimely loss. Each chapter is brief, just about as much as a bereaved parent could concentrate on, in the early days. The author emphasises that there is ‘no quick fix’ for grief. The book is full of good practical advice peppered with examples of how God upheld and comforted the family. The chapter about heaven is very moving and the chapter on ‘helping others’ is insightful and helpful.
