Saturday:
‘It is the Lord, let Him do what seems good to Him’ (1 Sam. 3:18).
Preparing to travel from Cwmbran to Mumbles to join the beach team today – this verse blessed and encouraged me. To know that whatever happens during the week ahead God is in control. As I read His word I am reminded ‘not to fret’ but to ‘trust in the Lord’. Arrived around 3pm, met the rest of the team, visited Langland Bay and Mumbles.
Sunday:
Saved to serve.
Raining today! The team went to several local churches, taking part in some services. Held the ‘Holiday Special’ at Mumbles Baptist rather than on the beach – good numbers. Also went to Mumbles to give out invitations to beach team events.
Monday:
‘You have armed me with strength for the battle’ (Ps. 18:39).
Very sunny today, busy beach. Unexpectedly our beach spot was ‘reserved’ for us by Christians from a local church – how God answers even before we ask! At Langland Bay all day. 11.30am games and bible time, 2.30pm Tug o’ war and Holiday Special, 4pm sand-modelling. Events well attended – friendly atmosphere.
Tuesday:
Have been encouraged by the team times each day, spending time around God’s word, praying and worshipping together before we start the day’s activities.
Mixed weather – Smugglers’ Trail cancelled due to the rain.
Wednesday:
Raining again today so based at church. Invitations given out at Mumbles again as the town is very busy when it’s raining. Around thirty children and their parents at the church – how God surprises us. The team has been encouraged today. Weather cleared this evening for the team outing to Caswell Bay and Verdi’s ice-cream parlour – great spending time together.
Thursday:
‘The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD. And he delights in his way… for the LORD upholds him with His hand’ (Ps. 37:23-24).
At the beach all day with over forty families attending the Ultimate Champions in afternoon.
Friday:
Last day. Life-saving demonstration at Langland at around lunch time brought people to the beach – many had leaflets or stopped to watch the beach team. Prayer answered for a cook for next week – two ladies who visited the beach today have offered to join the team. How great is our God and how perfect His timings! Smugglers’ Trail cancelled again today because of the rain – God’s ways are not our ways. He has used the mixed weather this week to work in great ways: many contacts made, ten requests for postal bible club, two people have asked for follow up, and hundreds of leaflets and newspapers were given out.
Team spent the evening together. Tidied up, watched a mission film, ate Joe’s ice cream and played games.
Saturday:
Morning tidying up before next team arrives. Last look around Mumbles before saying goodbye to team and leaving for home.
