Legacies

The ministry of the Evangelical Movement of Wales is as diverse as it is valuable. Thousands of people across Wales, and in every generation, can testify to the way God has used the work of the EMW in their lives.

Perhaps you’re a subscriber to the Evangelical Magazine, or you buy books printed by Bryntirion Press (possibly from one of nine EMW bookshops). Maybe young people from your church enjoy the summer camps or other youth events we organise. Or do you join us each summer for the annual conferences at Aberystwyth?

You may not know that this very public work is only the tip of the iceberg. The EMW is also involved in evangelistic work, providing literature and organising teams at the National Eisteddfodau and the Royal Welsh Show. We run a theological training course, helping men preparing for the ministry hone the skills God has given them. And if they’re called to a church in Wales (and many are), it’s probable that they’ll find a home in one of the many ministers’ fraternals that do so much to encourage ministers and promote Christian unity.

And that’s not forgetting the Bryn-y-groes conference centre, ministers’ conferences, our voice in the media, our work supporting other Christian organisations, the pastoral support of church leaders, and much more.

In other words, the EMW is not just about committees and meetings! It’s a movement involving thousands of Christians across Wales and beyond. In God’s providence it plays a vital part in the life of many churches, pastors and ‘ordinary’ Christians.

So it should come as no surprise to know that the Evangelical Movement of Wales cannot rely only on the income received from book sales and conference receipts. Gifts given to the Movement play a huge role in supporting all of these vital ministries. Every year nearly £100,000 is given to the EMW – and without that support we could only do a fraction of this work.

What you may find surprising is that nearly half of these gifts come in the form of legacies. The generosity of those who remember the EMW in their will means we can continue vital ministries that would otherwise have to close.

Would you prayerfully consider pledging a legacy to the Evangelical Movement of Wales in your will? Your support could help ensure that in God’s providence these valuable ministries can continue well into the future.
